Recycling Technology for Grinding Swarf:Application to Iron Powder for Disposable Body Warmer
The recycling of grinding swarf which is a typical industrial waste discharged from machining facilities for ball and/or roller bearings is studied.The grinding swarf is investigated whether it is possible to use as a raw material for commercial products such as a disposable body warmer.Since the major constituent of the disposable body warmer is fine iron powder,there is strong possibility that the grinding swarf can be used to make the disposable body warmer instead of the commercially available iron powder.The influence of the pretreatment conditions to the grinding swarf on various heat-generating characteristics of the disposable body warmer sample; such as average temperature and heating duration,is examined.It is shown that the heating behavior of the disposable body warmer made from the grinding swarf was comparable to that of commercial one.
