The Local Architectural Design Method of the Shuttle-shaped Column in the Chaoshan Area

摘要：

　　Based on the study of present theories of the shuttle-shaped column in Chinese traditional architecture as well as the research of traditional architectural craftsmanship in the Chaoshan area,the paper makes it clear that the shuttle-shaped column is shrunken at both ends and the shuttle-shaped column found in the Chaoshan area in South China represents a local design method of ancient Chinese traditional architecture.Through the analysis of examples and data,and also the interview with local architects,the paper explores the local design method of the shuttle-shaped column in the Chaoshan area.
