A PAST-Based Peer-to-Peer Data Block Storage System
PAST is a P2P data storage utility featured with high scalability,availability and security.In PAST,file,as the data unit,cannot be modified or deleted.This means that even if the user only wants to modify a fraction of a large file,they have to download the entire file and upload the modified one again,which obviously wasting a lot of bandwidth and increasing response time.This paper will propose a data-block storage system based on PAST,designed to resolve the abovecited problem.The proposed system has following features: firstly,it adds the deletion and update operation; secondly,it provides block-level data storage; thirdly,files are divided into blocks with fixed size and retrieved by metadata.Results from the experiments show that it does get an improved performance.
