A Vertical Handoff Decision Mechanism in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
The target for vertical handoff is to maintain current servicescontinuity when a terminal moves from one network into another. And many articles have made deep researches on vertical handoff technology.Based on Queuing Theory, this paper adopts the priority of terminals’ present service to assists vertical handoff decision, and selects the suitable judgment matrix based on different servicesdifferent Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. This can guarantee real-time services demand, but also choose a network, more suitable for service itself,to meet users requirement.Through performance analysis,we further prove that when a terminal uses real-time service, should choose a network with low delay and ones advantageous to the real-time service transmission, while to non real-time service, should select a network with high rate and low cost.
