Network Performance Aware Peer-to-Peer Video on Demand Traffic Locality Mechanism
P2P Video on Demand application is one of the killer applications in todays Internet.To release the impact of P2P VoD traffic on ISP networks,traffic locality mechanism attracts peoples attention.However,most of these approaches have paid very limited effort on the peer distribution of such applications,which can affect the traffic locality effect seriously.By designing an active crawler,we analyze the peer distribution of typical P2P VoD system from the language and network point of view.Besides,the relationship between peer distribution and network performance among them is also investigated.Based on the upper works,we propose a network performance aware P2P VoD traffic locality mechanism LVoD,and simulation results show that LVoD can select good peers as neighbors and improve the system performance effectively.
