A Content-popularity-based ACO Mechanism for Content-Centric Networking Routing

Applying ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm in Content-Centric Networking (CCN) routing is an effective way to reduce the potential content retrieval redundancy. However, the current solutions havent considered the content popularity in the algorithms, which may cause the routing update strategy irrelevant to the preference of the content objects. In this paper,we propose a content-popularity-based ACO (CPB-ACO) mechanism to promote the performance of the existing ACO mechanism in CCN routing. The main idea is to adjust the ants exploration activity according to the content popularity. The simulation results show that CPB-ACO mechanism can decrease the total failure number of Interest packets in CCN,while improving the convergence of the ACO algorithm.
