Power-aware Data Collection Algorithm for Heterogeneous Multi-radio Sensor Networks
The adopting of heterogeneous multi-radio architecture for nodes in wireless sensor networks is a meritorious approach to meet the bandwidth and delay requirements while still being energy efficient,since in this way,it is possible to make use of the heterogeneity of different radios.In this work,we analyzed the energy performance of heterogeneous multi-radio network for data collection applications.The main contributions of this work include: proved the problem of minimizing the transmission energy dissipation of a heterogeneous multi-radio data collection network was NP-hard; presented a prototype platform equipped with an 802.11g radio and an 802.15.4 radio and designed an energy-efficient data collection algorithm for heterogeneous multi-radio network.Simulation results showed the heterogeneous multi-radio architecture could achieve much better energy performance compared to isomorphic architectures.
