Smart interface management to implement a high quality strain balanced super-lattice solar cell

  Strain-balanced super-lattice (SL) has been proved as a really potential structure to tune the bandgap of one junction in a tandem solar cell to achieve the optimized design as well as to pursue high efficiency single junction solar cell.By extending to a wider absorption edge to that of bulk material,SL solar cell can substantially enhance current density of the cell.Comparing with conventional multi-quantum well solar cell,it takes advantage of a minimized drop in open circuit voltage which is due to the unique and rapid carrier transport mechanism.The interface management is a very significant technique applied to implement a high quality SL.In this report,we focus on how to make a smart interface management for such a thin period structure.Role of the buffer GaAs layer was investigated by placing it at different location in the SL.
