Surface plasmon enhanced bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells with Au nanoparticles prepared by the micellar method
Improved performance for bulk heterojunction (BHJ) polymer solar cells was demonstrated by introducing Au nanoparticles (NPs) into the devices.The Au NPs of ~10 nm in size were prepared by the micellar method using polystyrene-block-poly (2-vinylpyridine) diblock polymer.The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of BHJ solar cells was improved from 2.8% to 3.21% by incorporating Au NPs.The enhanced PCE is attributed to the increased light absorption resulting from the surface plasmonic effect.
