Optimization of the Cell-to-Module (CTM) conversion loss by using the PV module materials with the improved optical properties
In this study,we investigated how to increase the current gain of PV modules by enhancing the optical properties of PV module materials such as glass,EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate),and back sheet. For comparison with variation of short circuit current (Isc),one-cell mini-modules and full-size modules were fabricated with the materials having different optical characteristics.Isc was analyzed by quantum efficiency (QE) measurement to quantize amount of Isc,and the power of PV modules was determined under standard test condition (STC).Due to the enhanced optical properties of the materials such as UV-through EVA,white EVA and high-reflectance back sheet, the current of PV module was increased and the current gain was analyzed with QE measurement. The full-size module was verified the increase of Pmax and Isc at STC,the result was similar to EQE results.
