Quantitative Evaluation of Self-shading Loss in Pedestal and Carousel Tracker HCPV Plant

  Self-shading loss of HCPV (high concentrator photovoltaic) plant was quantitatively evaluated by theoretical models for pedestal-type and carou-sel-type solar trackers.Cloudless solar spectral model with weather factors AOE (aerosol optical depth) and PWV (precipitable water vapor) 1,2 was used to calculate potential shortcut cur-rent of multi-junction solar cell.As the result of this study,quantitative estima-tion of tracker array spacing has been demonstrated under the given ground coverage condition at different installa-tion sites,Arizona (US) and Japan.
