Nano-Copper Clusters Modified Electrode for Amperometric Detection of Chemical Oxygen Demand

A novel copper nanoparticles (nano-Cu) clusters modified micro disk electrode was developed with MEMs technology and electrochemical deposition method for the chemical oxygen demand (COD) determination.By periodic pulse current, copper nanoparticles were deposited on working electrode surface to form a sensitive film integrating micro and nano structures.A portable detector based on the nano-Cu modified electrode was developed.Under the optimized analytical parameters, the simple and rapid detections of COD for standard solution samples were successfully achieved, without the time-consuming digest processing of water sample and the strong oxidant. The results demonstrated that the detector showed the detection limit of 3 mg/L with linear range from 5 mg/L to 1200 mg/L.
