A Low-PoweLow-Power Photovoltaic Maximum Power Point Tracking Circuit for WSNs
Solar energy harvesting is a practical solution to energy limitation of WSN applications.In this article,the general energy harvesting architecture is presented.Several potential maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods are discussed.A simple and low-cost analog MPPT circuit is constructed.The technique is based on the approximate linearity relationship between MPP voltage and the open-circuit voltage of solar panel under different irradiation levels.Detailed design guidelines are described.Experiments results are presented regarding the circuit operation,MPPT accuracy and efficiency.
