Preparation and application of spinel CoAl2O4 nanopowders on DSSC

  CoAl2O4 nanopowders were prepared by citric acid gel method.The effect of roasting temperature on the crystal structure and particle size was analyzed by X-ray diffraction spectrum.The absorbance of CoAl2O4 nanopowders and CoAl2O4/TiO2 porous composite films were tested by UV - visible absorption spectroscopy,and the band gap of CoAl2O4 nanopowders was calculated.Using CoAl2O4/TiO2 composite films as the photoanode,the DSSC was prepared.The optical performance of the DSSC was tested by Solar Simulator and SourceMeter.The results showed that the optimum roasting temperature of CoAl2O4 powders was 700 ℃; the band gap energy of CoAl2O4 powder was 1.69ev which means that it was narrow band gap semiconductor material; when the amount of CoAl2O4 powder is 1wt% the performance of DSSC is the best.The stability of the CoAl2O4/TiO2 composite thin film cells is better than that of pure TiO2 thin film cells.
