Experimental Study on Tip-induced Electrospinning

Tip-induced Electrospinning (TIE),which probes array is utilized to plunge into the plane polymer solution and withdraw quickly to generate Taylor Cone under strong electric field has been demonstrated to produce nanofibers with high throughput. The experiment results show that the threshold voltage of different electrode distance is increased with the concentration and the throughput of polyethylene oxide (PEO) nanofibers is up to 1.9612g/h when the solution surface area and the applied voltage is 142mm ×50mm and 63kV respectively. The average percentage error of the weight of nanofibers varies from 12.62% to 28.64% on the condition that the applied voltages are changed from 45kV to 63kV.
