Modelling of a Variable Displacement Vane Pump for Vehicle Engine Lubrication

  Recently,the design requirements for engine lubricating systems,especially for vehicle applications,have been oriented to a general performance improvement,coupled with a contemporary reduction of power losses,weights and volumes.Subsequently,a significant raise of the delivered flow rates and pressure levels for actual engine lubricating systems has been registered.The aim of this paper is based on geometric,dynamic analyses of a variable displacement vane-type oil pump to develop a pump mathematic model and perform simulations.It can be considered as mandatory steps for a deeper understanding of pump operation as well as for effectively implementing pump control mechanism to satisfy the urgent demands of engine lubricating systems.
