Numerical Simulation of Supersonic Inlet
This paper compares and analyzes the simulation results obtained by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools, simulation being carried out on the binary supersonic inlet.A combination of turbulence models such as k-ε,RNG k-ε,S-A and k-ω etc are adopted.Standard wall functions and non-equilibrium wall functions are utilized. The computation outcomes are checked against experiment results.Detailed analysis demonstrates that the numerical results obtained from the turbulence models can accurately forecast the pressure distribution trend in the inlet. However, for separation bubbles due to the mutual interference of the shock wave within the inlet boundary layer, the calculation predicts fewer bubbles than actually generated in the experiment.Computation on RNG k-ε model combined with the non-equilibrium wall function give the best approximation to the experimental results in the separated flow predictions.
