Study on 2+1 Axis Control Electrical Discharge Machining of 3-dimensional Cross Sections Changing Hole

  A cross section of a machined hole is generally constant.To overcome the limitation,a new device has been developed which can fabricate holes whose cross sections change.Such holes are called cross sections changing holes in our study.The device and its control software are able to create 2-dimensional cross sections changing holes designed previously.However,there is not the control software to make the device machine 3-dimensional cross sections changing holes.In this study,therefore,the control software is improved so that 3-dimensional ones can be made by means of 2+1 axis control software.Simulated results show that the improved control software is capable of controlling the device so that it can machine 3-dimensional cross sections changing holes.
