A Novel Leakage Detection Method for Long Distance Gas Pipeline Based on Optic Fiber Sensor and Optical Multiplexing
To detect the micro-leakage of long distance gas pipeline, this paper presents a novel method based on precise optic fiber sensor and optical multiplexing technology. The precise optic fiber sensors based on interferometer are designed and placed on the surface of gas pipeline to detect the stress wave, which is generated by the gas-structure coupling and propagating alone the pipeline. The optic fiber sensors were multiplexed by three optic fibers, and one optic fiber was the sensor activation channel, the others were stress wave signal transmission channels. The experiment results of test field showed that the stress wave could be detected by the optical fiber sensor, which was apart from the leakage point 500m.The longest distance between the first and the last sensor was 36km,and 32 sensors could be multiplexed simultaneously.
