Gas Blow Micro-Bulging Behavior For AZ31 Magnesium Alloy Rolled Foil

The gas blow micro-bulging behavior for fine-grained AZ31 magnesium alloy rolled foil with a thickness of 100μm was investigated.Free gas blow micro-bulging tests were conducted under different gas pressure in the range of 360-420℃ to investigate the influence of the temperature and pressure, grain size and the diameter of die cavity on microformability of AZ31 foil.Experimental results showed that the hemisphere parts with 950μm and 500μm diameter can be formed successfully and the ratio of height to diameter H/D(H is the bulge height and D is the diameter of die cavity) can exceeds 0.7 at 380℃.A micro-cylinder with a diameter of 950μm and a height of 510μm was formed successfully at 380℃ under 4.4MPa.Furthermore the microstructural revolution law during the gas blow microforming was discussed and the wall thickness distribution was analyzed. The wall thickness of micro-bulging parts is much more uniform than that of macro-bulging parts.
