Magnetotelluric Forward Modeling with Multi-Grid Based on FEM
Its necessary to select an algorithm for solving large liner equations in magnetotelluric forward modeling,and the algorithm will impact on the efficiency and accuracy of the modeling results.For solving the large liner equations formed in 2D magnetotelluric forward modeling more efficiently,uneven multi-grid method based on Finite Element Method(FEM) is applied in this paper.In 1D and 2D models,the liner equations are solved by two ways: one is the algorithm of biconjugate gradients stabilized method(BICGSTAB),the other is multi-grid method.The result shows that multi-grid method is more efficient for smoothing error component,it can also improve the speed and accuracy of the calculation in the magnetotelluric forward modeling.
