2-D MT Forward Modeling with Topography and Its Effects
Magnetotelluric (MT) survey carried out in the mountain area can be strongly affected by the topography. In this paper,we used the finite element method to simulate the MT responses of 2-D structure with topography. Some models with ridge and valley were considered, and the numerical results indicate the topographic effects on the MT responses. Finally, the inversion of synthetic data is implemented, and the topographic effects on the semi-quantitative interpretation of MT data were explored.
