Multi-channel IP Electrical Method for Deep Exploration
A multi-channel IP electrical method for exploration with great depth is designed to solve problems, including mineral deposit, water resources, engineering exploration by extension of conventional methods of IP electrical sounding,e.g.,three electrode and four electrode arrays. It is carried out by arranging all potential electrodes of a multi-channel receiver at equal or unequal spacing along the survey line all at once.Within potential electrodes, current is impinged through electrodes at centers of any two adjacent measurement receivers.Outside the receivers, current electrodes at one or both ends of the survey line are used to inject current into the ground. The spacing between the current electrodes increased by a constant or exponentially.Every changing in the current electrode spacing, measurement is carried out for multi-channel receiver simultaneously. The more channels are used, the higher efficiency can abstained. Its efficiency can be improved by n-1 times, compared with conventional DC sounding observation. The cost of data collection can be reduced significantly and it is suitable for deep target exploration.
