A Simple Calculation of System Matrix for Image Reconstruction Based on the GATE Simulation
The system matrix calculation plays an important role in the improvement of the speed and the quality of image reconstruction in PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging. It involves the calculation of a certain sequence of projection coefficient, which is generated through classifying different situations of the intercepted photon rays with the grid.In this study,a fast and simple algorithm for computing the projection coefficient is proposed.Compared with those traditional methods, the grid index of the proposed approach is determined by rows and columns in the two-dimensional coordinate, respectively.Experimental results based on GATE (Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission) simulating PET imaging show that the proposed algorithm is efficient to build up a system matrix.
