Relationship between fall experiences and acceleration of center of gravity of body during sit-to-walk motion
Sit-to-walk performance is assumed to associate with stability of gait.In this study,we investigated the relationship between fall experience and of center of gravity of body during sit-to-walk motion as the first step of the development of new method of gait assessment for the risk management of falls.44 elderly people volunteered to participate as subjects. They were asked about fall experience and categorized into two groups; fall experienced group; Fall inexperienced group. Some RMS of acceleration and some step time are significantly different between groups. Moreover the result of discriminant analysis by using indexes with a significant difference revealed 90% correct prediction rate for falling.
