A Visualization Analysis on Research Trends of International Metadata Study based on CiteSpace Ⅲ

With the rapid increase of electronic information resources, traditional data organization method cannot adapt to this change. In recent years, metadata, a concept of structured data on data, has attracted much attention. This paper provides a visualization analysis on the development trends and specialty transition in the metadata research by using CiteSpace III. Results clearly show the pivotal nodes and classic literatures in metadata research fields. Based on these pivotal nodes, we can find that metadata research has experienced four specialty transitions and different research front terms emerge in each transition. The results will promote further understanding in emerging trends and specialty transitions in metadata research field.
