The Revelation of US government Big Data Research and Development Initiative for Chinas Scientific Platform Resource Share
In March 2012, the U.S. government announced Big Data Research and Development Initiative. The program is focused on improving the U.S. Federal government’s ability to extract knowledge and insights from large and complex collections of digital data, the initiative promises to help solve some of the Nations most pressing challenges. The program includes several federal agencies such as NSF, HHS/NIH, DOE, DOD, DARPA and USGS who pledge more than $200 million in new commitments. Their promise will greatly improve the tools and techniques needed to access, organize, and glean discoveries from huge volumes of digital data. This article will focus on analyzing the background of the Big Data program, combined with current situation of chinas science & technology platforms and resource sharing, proposed how do we learn from American experience to develop big data plan, as well as the related specific measures.
