SOA-based Geodata Sharing System Research and Application Practice
Geodata sharing is important and urgent for interdisciplinary and trans-boundary geosciences research and socioeconomic sustainable development. To solve shortcomings of existing distributed data sharing systems, in this paper, we design a combination of centralized and distributed geodata sharing system based on service-oriented architecture and solve its key technologies: (1) web service discovery and automatic update; (2) multiple metadata standards uniform management and efficient search; (3) seamless one-stop distributed data access; (4) data sharing web service quality control. In practice, we successfully developed Data Sharing System of Earth System Science based on the above methodology and formed an Earth System Science Data Sharing Network, one of 23 National Sciences and Technology Infrastructure in China, which include one main-center, one user-center and 14 sub-centers. The near 8 years data sharing practices of ESSDSN demonstrate that the system has more comprehensive and stable interoperability so that it can provide not only metadata synchronization service but also high quality one-stop data sharing. Moreover it has better compatibility and expansibility to facilitate deployment and upgrade.
