Interoperability Across Global Biodiversity e-Infrastructures
Biodiversity, our living environment of species, their genes and ecological relations, is not confined to political borders. Species and their genetic information are moving around landscapes, continents and the whole world in different ways. As such biodiversity science must address knowledge development at the global scale. Research infrastructures in this area also have to meet global user requirements. Recently, a number of large-scale einfrastructures for biodiversity research grouped together in order to promote their interoperability and common services to scientific users. This will also address the call for a better understanding of our environment and for infrastructure cooperation as expressed by various international policy bodies.
