A QualitQuality Assurance Model for Information in Wikis
As articles grow rapidly in Wikis, the quality of articles has aroused many peoples concern. The topic on how to control the quality of articles have attracted many scientists. One of their major viewpoint is that the Wiki can guarantee the quality of articles as long as many users are attracted to contribute generously to the articles. But, we examine all data of 82713 articles in Baidu Baike and find that although there are thousands of editors, more than half of the articles have not been edited since they were created. There is no doubt that the quality of these articles can not be guaranteed. Hence, a good mechanism for improving the quality of articles is essential in Wikis. In this light, the authors proposes a model that control the quality of articles in Wikis. The model contains two-step framework. First, the training system for new editors is introduced to the model, in which the new registers are required to edit one article which is recommended to the new user according to his interest. Second, after editing, the articles will be pushed to other experienced users.
