Mismatch effect on safety assessment of pressure pipe with incomplete penetration defect

With orthogonal experiment design method and FEA solution of plastic limit load, safety assessment curves for pressure pipe with incomplete welding defect in three different strength match conditions were obtained. The result showed that the welding strength match factor had significant effect on safety assessment curves, the greater the welding strength match factor is, the larger the safety zone beyond the safety assessment curve, this means that the security of over-matching pipe is better than equal-matching and under-matching pipe. Finally, relation formula between the welding strength match factor and correlative coefficient of safety assessment curve was obtained by curve fitting.
