Fatigue-fracture mechanism under larger stress and strain conditions

Although the fatigue-fracture mechanism has been well observed and explained, looking for the strict theoretic formulation is still valuable. In this research, based on rational mechanics formulation, the non-linear motion equations for large deformation are derived firstly. Secondly, based them and taking the average curvature as parameter, the form solution of stress is obtained. Using this solution, the fatigue caused by curvature is a global effect. There is a focus point which is the fatigue-fracture initiating point. Thirdly, the fatigue caused by deformation energy density is obtained by the form solution of stress. It shows that the energy density caused fatigue effects is local feature. These results give out a theoretic formula for fatigue effects, which may be used to control fatiguefracture in engineering practice.
