The feasibility of research for shell deformations with isogeometric analysis
In recent years, the situation of safe production with the use of pressure vessels is rigorous and its also a threat to peoples life and property security. So its urgent to do some effort for the failure analysis of pressure vessels in order to decrease the amount of accidents. In this paper, the development of isogeometric analysis (IGA) is summarized. Through explaining the feature of IGA, it is evidence that IGA may instead of finite element analysis (FEA) in the field of failure analysis as the complex deformation of failure or exploded vessels. In order to do so, the relationship and distinction between FEA and IGA are indicated in the paper. And finally, the feasibility of IGA in the research of shell deformations is discussed.
