Safety analysis for nozzles of coldstreched austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels
Manholes and nozzles may be needed in the coldstreched austenitic stainless steel pressure vessels as the actual requirements. But how to definitely select the allowable stress of nozzles hasnt been mentioned in related standards like the ASME Code Case 2596. Nonlinear finite element method was used to analyse three nozzle models designed according to different allowable stress, also the stress and strain at this district were compared. The results indicated that nozzle structure with thinner wall thickness was lack of sufficient security due to stress concentration, so focused monitoring should be adopted during coldstretching process.
