Effect of pit defect size on creep life of pressure pipe at high temperature
Volumetric defect, especially the pit defect is the most common form in high temperature pressure pipe caused by corrosion. There are many factors affecting the local pit pipe creep damage at high temperature, such as the size of pit defect and load type. In this paper, the effect of internal pit defect geometry parameters to the creep life of high temperature pressure pipe with pit defect under pressure by finite element code ABAQUS has been discussed. Some problems, such as the relationship of pit size and stress, stress concentration factor and creep damage with time, the effect of pit size to max stress location vs creep damage have been analyzed. Finally creep life of pressure pipe with pit defect is try to be obtained at high temperature according to variation of the relative depth, relative slope, relative length of pit so as to analyze the factor affecting to it.
