Pin-on-disc wear test and simulation of HA/ZrO2 composite coating

HA/ZrO2 composite coating was prepared on the titanium alloy substrate with optimized plasma spraying parameters, and its wear rate was measured with pin-on-disc tester. The wear rate models during running-in and stable period were built basing on uniform design theory and the quadratic polynomial stepwise regression analysis method. Wear simulation for pin-on-disc sliding wear test was conducted with ANSYS contact analysis and wear rate model. The results showed that the regression equations could be obtained, and the simulation results were quite consistent with the experiments. The contact pressure distribution was affected by the continuously changing model in the wear zone during wearing. Wear weight and depth increased almost linearly during both running-in and stable wear period.
