Challenges and Expectations of Chinese Governance Model in the Internet Age

As the development of modern information and communication technology, China is coming into the internet age and governance environment has met unprecedented challenges. Openness of the internet has accelerated the diffusion of power, which puts forward the new challenge to the government decisionmaking model. Sharing of the Internet has increased the deepness of the society supervision by the public, which puts forward challenge to government governance model of supervision. Meanwhile, interactivity of the Internet has changed the traditional flow of the information, which challenges the government governance process. China should structure the participation—deliberation governance model in the internet age which is proper to the conditions of China. There are three stages in this model: public passive participation stage; public initiative participation stage; collaborative governance stage.
