Towards a Search for Excellence in Public Administration Theory and Practice
The paper discusses the contemporary trends in public administration theory and practice wherein scholars like David Schultz, Janet V. Denhardt and Robert B. Denhardt, Gerald E. Caiden and such other scholars have in a significant way contributed towards providing a theoretical base to public administration that can be a guidance to practice. Initiative like Ayalkootams-neighbourhood groups in Keralas rural local self-governance level, has been cited as an innovative experiment in collaborative governance. Further, the paper highlights the perceptions of scholars like Kuldeep Mathur and Mohit Bhattacharya about the teaching and research of public administration in India that can prove to be a road map. Caidens building blocks towards a theory of the discipline have been quoted to mark the research directions.
