Approaches of Improving Rural Doctors Pension in Underdeveloped Areas in China
Chinas rural doctors used to be called barefoot doctors, responsible for basic health clinics and public medical services in rural areas. Currently, there are great differences between local regulations for rural doctors pension because of the lack of unified national policies. The majority of rural doctors have been absorbed in the system of social endowment insurance for village residents, but the pension is too low for them, especially in underdeveloped areas. Therefore, it is necessary to raise rural doctors pension from the perspective of fairness and efficiency. Chinese government should attach great importance to this problem and take measures to relieve rural doctors worry about their living after retirement.
