On Protection of Publics Right to Know in Chinese Public Crisis Management

The right to know is a citizens basic democratic right. Public crisis relates to the vital interest of the public. In the process of public crisis management Chinese government should be fully aware that to protect Publics Right to know not only helps prevent rumors and maintain social stability, but also promotes social mobilization extensively, thus shaping a good image of the government. In order to protect the citizens right to know, Chinese government departments should constantly improve the legal system of information disclosure in practice, improve the performance appraisal of officials to a greater degree, and maintain good communication with the media.
