Analysis of the Service Concept in Local Government Departments Micro-blogs from the Perspective of Communication Studies: A Case Study of Chengdu Traffic Polices Sina Micro-blog
Micro-blog is a newly emerging type of social media, which has become a new channel of information dissemination and public opinion formation. In 2010, various domestic government departments opened their micro-blogs in succession. Chengdu traffic polices micro-blog is the first police departments microblog in Sichuan. In this paper, the authors tried to use the content analysis method, the 5W pattern, the selective theory, the public sphere theory and the new public management theory to analyze the information released in Chengdu traffic polices Sina micro-blog. The findings showed the willingness of local government providing people-oriented service through those social media, but there is a long way to go to establish the real free, open, and equal public sphere.
