Coordinating the Local Interests Conflict during Regional Integration: Experience from the Yangtze Delta in China
Interest is the powerful force to promote regional integration. The essence of regional integrations process is interest conflict and coordination among members. In the regional cooperation of the Yangtze River Delta, there are lots of interests conflicts, such as industrial structures elimination and upgrade, the spillover effect of technique innovation, the human resource acquisition and loss, the promotion race among local officials, the ecological cross-border pollution. In order to coordinate local interests conflicts, the Delta has taken these following measures: contracting the agreement, setting up organizations, holding forums, governmental guidance and promoting and so on. Through these mechanisms to coordinate the conflicts, the Yangtze Delta has gained outstanding cooperations performance. However, it still needs system innovation to promote the regional integration.
