Research on the Feasibility of Traffic Congestion Pricing in Chengdu

Traffic congestion, an outstanding performance of the contradiction between supply and demand, has long been a worldwide problem. Different from the traditional ways to alleviate traffic congestion by increasing traffic supply, traffic congestion pricing is limiting vehicle use demands by economic leverage to reconstruct the space-time distribution of traffic demand and optimize traffic resource allocation. This paper bases itself on the reality of traffic congestion in Chengdu, the theories for traffic congestion pricing and the actual policies, experiences and development of traffic congestion pricing both domestically and overseas, considers and analyzes citizens opinions on traffic congestion pricing through questionnaire surveys and the actual situation in Chengdu, affirms the feasibility of traffic congestion pricing in Chengdu and provides suggestions to the actual implementation of relevant policies.
