Strategic Analysis of Soft Power Advancing from the Perspective of Local Administration—Practices of Chengdu

As an indispensable part of city development, soft power gradually becomes a key element of evaluating comprehensive national strength in current world. Researches on soft power are just at the beginning stage in China and relative researches are far from enough currently. Facing the present situation, the paper takes a global view on development experience and advancing strategies of urban development from five distinctive aspects of soft power—urban cohesiveness, cultural charisma, urban creativity, urban image and urban governmental credibility via experience of Chengdu which has accomplished outstanding and remarkable achievements in advancing urban soft power in recent years and also the paper is in hoping of providing some tangible approaches and practical experience for other cities and in view of benefiting urban development in China.
