Enclosed die forging in the separable cavity

Under the matearial saving demand of automotive forgings, flashless die forging process is alaways used to replace the conventional die forging, and it will cause lots of process problems. In order to solve the major issues and improve the performance of forgings, the flashless die foingrging method in the separable die is discussed and the corresponding die structure with back pressure is designed, and some experimental works is carried out. In the end, a motor vehicle automatic gearbox gear shaft is precision forged in the separable die, material consumption is reduced by 38.1％ and good economic benefits are achieved.
