Closed extrusion forming process of thin-walled irregular cup
In this paper, a combined extrusion process of thinwalled irregular cup shell alternative to the casting process was presented. There are two difficulties in extrusion process, one is the mold cavity filled in the metal irregular flow and temperature fastly decreases, the other is forming load in the forging of dimensional precision. In order to obtain the optimal design, stress field, temperature field, velocity field and load field were analyzed by FEM software. The traditional variation of the forming load with the forming speed has been changed because of heat transfer.One step extrusion has been adopted based on the analysis of forming process. Finally, qualified forgings of wall thickness difference under 0.2 mm were obtained by experiments.
