Investigation of flow lines, microstructure and mechanical properties during flow control forming of aluminum alloy 4032
The flow lines, microstructure and mechanical properties during flow control forming (FCF) of 4032 aluminum alloy scroll plate have researched in this paper. The experimental results show that qualified scroll plate with idea shape accuracy and size accuracy is formed. The flow lines of the extruded scroll plate are investigated using simulation and experiments. Both experimental and simulated results show that flow lines basically distribute alon g the scroll plate shape. However, the flow lines contacting with the die inner wall appears disturbance because of the metal flow speed difference caused by the friction between billet and die. Some reasonable measures have been put forward to optimize the metal flow lines. The microstructures and mechanical properties of scroll plate are observed. Experimental results show that the mechanical properties of scroll plate totally meet the operating requirements.
