The cold forging process of axle shaft gear
The rapid development of automobile industry demands for gears with higher accuracy, excellent mechanical properties and lower cost. Due to the advantages of higher production efficiency, higher material utilization ratios and more excellent mechanical performance compared with the traditional machining technology, precision forging technology has been widely applied to produce gears. Currently, the combined hot-forging-warm-sizing process and composite forging technology of cold sizing after hot/warm forging are adopted to produce axle shaft gears. The article adopts a different forging process for axle shaft gears, which is put forward in this sequence: cold pre-forging, closed-die cold forging and cold sizing. Because of the difficult fulfillment for tooth shape and large forming force during cold forging, reasonable heat treatment process is developed and the effects of different pre-forging dimensional parameters on forming law are researched. Strain distribution, stress distribution and metal flow trend during closed-die cold forging are also analyzed, which has great contribution to the preforging design and the forging quality.
