Study on cold extrusion forming process of an automotive steering screw
The ratio of length to diameter of a style automotive steering screw intermediate slender hole is up to 15, but also has characteristics of the small diameter of both ends holes and the large diameter of middle hole. At present, the intermediate slender hole of this screw mainly obtained by mechanical processing in the domestic, low production efficiency and tool life, resulting in higher production costs. In this paper, process, numerical simulation and experimental studies of combining research methods, a cold extrusion process of the steering screw was researched and developed , and successfully the qualified screw cold forging was produced. The screw intermediate slender hole forming process that was described in this paper provides an efficient, lowcost production methods, and also provides a reference for the cold forging of other same type parts.
