Preparation of microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate with polysiloxane shell and its flame retardance in polypropylene
Intumescent flame retardant (IFR) have drawn more and more attention in recent years because they are more environment-friendly than the traditional flame retardants. It is well known that the conventional IFR system contains three main ingredients: acid source, carbon source, and gas source. IFR materials form a carbonaceous char on the surface upon heating, which prevents the substrate material from the transfer of heat flux and the diffusion of inflammable gases. Ammonium polyphosphate ((NH4) n+2 Pn O3n+1), as an acid source in IFRs, has been extensively investigated, due to its being inexpensive, low toxicity, higher thermal stability.
